A WORKPLACE nursery helping NHS colleagues in South Devon balance their careers with family life has been praised by Ofsted for its caring and inclusive environment.
Run by Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust, Rainbow Nursery, located near Torbay Hospital, supports children from across South Devon, including the families of many NHS staff working in hospitals, community services and teams from across the Trust.
In its latest inspection, Ofsted recognised the strong relationships between nursery colleagues and children.
Inspectors praised the way the team helps children build confidence and friendships, as well as the support provided for children with additional needs. Parents also told inspectors their children were thriving at the nursery.
The findings highlight the contribution of a service that has supported local families for almost 40 years, providing a nurturing environment for children, while helping NHS colleagues manage work and family responsibilities.

Nursery managers, Tina Mwaro and Jennie Judge, said: ‘Every family is different, and we know how important it is for parents to feel confident leaving their children with us each day.
‘Our team cares deeply about children and families we support and we are incredibly proud of the commitment, kindness and professionalism they bring to their work.
‘It is a privilege to be part of so many families’ lives and to support parents as they balance work and caring responsibilities’.
Rainbow Nursery is in important part of the support available to Trust colleagues, helping parents continue their careers while raising young children.
Chief People Officer at the Trust, Jess Piper, said: We know that reliable, high-quality childcare can make a real difference to working families.
‘Rainbow Nursery is in important part of the support available to colleagues across South Devon and helps many of our colleagues continue doing the jobs they love while raising their families.
‘We are delighted to see the dedication of the Rainbow team recognised and would like to thank them for the difference they make every day’.
