A MAN who fell 60ft in a climbing accident at a disused quarry in Torbryan is in a serious but stable condition in hospital, police confirmed today.

The casualty, from Plymouth, was flown to the city’s Derriford Hospital on Friday after the tumble at Orley Common.

He was with two other climbers at the site when he plunged down the quarry edge.

Some 20 rescue personnel from all three emergency services attended the incident.

The name of the injured man, who was said to be conscious and breathing after the accident, has not been released.
