It was a nail-biting conclusion to the district elections, with Conservatives taking the final three seats available in the Bovey Tracey, marking the changing shift of power from Liberal Democrat to Tory. Cllr Anna Klinkenberg and Cllr Fernley Holmes retained their seats with 1,492 and 1,493 votes. Liberal Democrat Sally Morgan received 1,131 votes, but it's was not enough to keep her seat. It was taken by Cllr George Gribble, who received the most amount of votes for the ward, with 1682. 'Tension was mounting, but I'm delighted with the overall result,' said Cllr Klinkenberg who has been a district councillor since 1996. She believes that people vote for the candidates they truly believe in. 'You have to be seen to be helping your ward and making an effort with issues and the problems that occur,' she said. She is looking forward to a future with Conservatives at the helm. 'It's an exciting time and the start of a new era,' she said. 'Ill continue to focus on development control as housing is important for everybody.' Liberal Democrat support was still strong, with Tony Allen getting 897 and Phil Page with 843. Labour didn't fair so well - Christopher Robillard had 303 votes and Lisa Robillard Webb got 330. Independent candidate David Elphick received 483, Helena Matthews of the Green Party with 348 and Bob Watkins had 300. The turnout was 55.46 per cent
