AN escaped tortoise on the run for more than two weeks has finally been apprehended.
The 20-year-old leopard tortoise named Shelly departed her enclosure at her home in Shillingford Abbot on July 9.
And she proceeded to walk, walk and walk some more.
Alas, nothing lasts forever.
Shelly was found on Thursday, July 24 in a field near the Orange Elephant off the A38 at Kennford.
She was returned to owner Nick Phillips.
And while in good spirits, Shelly came home with no appetite.
Speaking with the BBC, Nick said: ‘We tried runner beans, cabbage, cucumber, the full Monty.
‘She wasn't interested.
‘I've no idea what she's been eating, but clearly it wasn't salad’.
