Sean Brogan, of Coombe Vale Road, Teignmouth, writes:

We live in times moving so fast that the world seems to be standing on its head. Anne Marie Morris stood as a Conservative in the last General Election. Yet, she now says that she stands to see that ‘interests of working people are put before the interests of the privileged few’ (View from Westminster, MDA, October 14).

This is a view which would be held by me, Jeremy Corbyn and any socialist worth their salt! When was this Damascene conversion and her metamorphosis into a Corbinista occur?

Her great leader, the unelected Theresa May, mentioned the ‘working classes’ six times during her speech at the Tory Conference, add to this the word ‘change’ said 29 times and there you have it – we have elected revolutionaries! Or rather some 24 per cent of the electorate voted this Government.

To continue the farce in biblical terms, the words ‘whited sepulchers’ comes to mind. It is no wonder people have detached themselves from the political process. I would suggest that those who voted Conservative visit her at her surgeries and ask her to explain why they seem to have voted for a socialist.

The failure of austerity and cuts which have hit the working class hardest will presumably now come to an end. Pigs will deny they cannot fly and take off over Teignbridge.

As I stood against this candidate in the General Election, I may be accused of sour grapes. However, I stood in the election on an honest anti-austerity ticket and was not elected. Incidentally, I am still waiting for a statement on the closure of our community hospitals and to stop the fence sitting on the issue!
