Town saddened at loss of ‘Trog’

BOVEY Tracey has lost one of its true characters.

‘Trog’ Mark Tregoning, died suddenly at the weekend.

He could often be spotted in his favourite haunt The Cromwell Arms in the centre of the town.

Trog was a town councillor from 2011 to 2019, and town clerk Mark Wells recalled: ‘He was extremely friendly and called a spade a spade. He would do anything for anyone and had a heart of gold. 

‘In my time as clerk whilst Trog was a councillor, he served on the council’s Finance, Resources & General Services Committee as well as Recreation, Parks & Property Committee and Planning Committee.’

Many tributes have been paid to him on social media. Among them ‘Bovey will miss him, he did a lot for the town’; and ‘Trog was one of my favourites.’
