PEOPLE power has succeeded in preserving one of Ashburton's oldest names, writes Lindsey sill.
When Devon County Council dropped the title The Bull Ring from two town centre bus stops, it did not know what it had unleashed.
The ancient name disappeared and the two bus stops were renamed West Street after the road in which they stand.
Enter estate agent Richard Copus – whose business, Woods, stands at the very spot – was irate at what he considered a pointless change, suggesting that transport officials could inexpensively correct the error with the aid of four small vinyl stickers.
