FAST-moving entertainment will be the theme when Bovey Tracey Scouts and Guides stage a traditional gang show.
For three nights and one afternoon, members of Bovey Tracey Scouts and Guides will take to the stage for a two-hour show, offering an old-style mixture of sketches and skits, dance and, of course the well-known feature the gang shows are renowned for – plenty of songs.
Group treasurer Sue Daniels said: ‘There’ll also be short scenes from pantos. It’s a quick-moving variety show – and will be a real family treat.’
Sue’s husband Ken is the Scout group leader, and he has co-directed the entertainment with Guider Jean Corbyn and Beaver leader Brandon Gwillam.
Sue said: ‘Some of the material has been written by the youngsters themselves. I think this is the 18th year we have been doing this, and we are possibly the only Scout group in South Devon which stages a gang show like this.
‘It’s a high-standard show. We are the proud holders of a Red Scarf award. This is only given when you have been assessed and given high marks for professionalism and top-qualit chreography.’
The show is being performed by youngsters aged five to 14, with the younger members of the Cub Scouts, Brownies and Rainbows appearing in the Saturday matinee. All proceeds will go to Bovey Tracey Scouts for equipment and to improve facilities.
The show at the Bovey Tracey Scout Hut in Mill Marsh Park runs from tomorrow until April 29 at 7pm, with a matinee on Saturday at 2pm.
