A TEIGNMOUTH councillor claimed the town council had been 'frozen out' of a scheme to provide a youth training and leisure centre at Broadmeadow.

Cllr Vince Fusco complained he was 'very, very upset' that most members had no knowledge of the proposal by Teignmouth First and Teignmouth Community School, which is seeking a lease on a piece of land at the industrial estate.

'We should know what is happening; we represent the people, not these little groups. When people ask about it, we have to say we don't know what the devil is going on,' he told a council meeting on Tuesday.

The row broke out when Cllr Sylvia Russell revealed that Teignbridge Council was about to approve a deal to lease the land to the two organisations.
