TRUE gentleman of the roads of Devon John Treagood made his final journey today (Thursday).

And it was fitting that it was horses that carried him down the old A30 – a road he had travelled down numerous times in life.

A familiar site on the roads of Devon after shunning what he regarded as mainstream life close on 45 years ago, John passed away on February 9 aged 84.

Over £8,000 was raised to pay for his funeral following an online JustGiving appeal.

Close on 80 mourners turned out to pay their last respects to the man at East Devon Crematorium.

Beholding to John’s final wishes there were no flowers and those celebrating his life dressed in bright colours – he wanted no black. A collection was made at the end of the service with donations going to World Horse Welfare.
