IN the spirit of the season Plants Galore Christmas Tree Centres are giving away thousands of Christmas trees starting from Tuesday (December 22).

The free tree freebie is due to lower-than-expected sales through December and the current variable covid situation meaning that all five stores in the West County are over-run with trees.

Said Matt Pollard, Christmas seasonal manager at the Newton Abbot Forches Cross site: ‘This is a genuine offer - no purchase is needed.

‘Our five centres are ready to give away thousands of trees to spread Christmas cheer on a first come first serve basis – there is no catch. We have approximately 4000 trees from three to eight foot tall still in our stores that need a good home for Christmas.

‘We’d love them all to be gone by Christmas Eve and for lots of children (and adults) to have a real Christmas tree who might not usually get one. We also want to support the local region with some Christmas cheer after what has been a very difficult year for anyone, especially in business.

‘The offer is open to absolutely everyone – businesses, charities, schools, pubs and hotels, and there is no limit on the number of trees you want to take – if you want 100 trees then just load them up and take them away and good luck to you. If you have already brought one tree, then why not pop in again and pick up another tree for another room – or have a tree in every room!’

All customers need to do is arrive at any one of the five stores and collect their free tree. The give-away finishes on Christmas Eve.
