A CREATIVE community trail is set to return to Newton Abbot following the success of its first event earlier this year.

The second Tree Treasure Trail will take place on Sunday, October 4, from 11am to 1pm, with participants invited to explore the town centre through a series of playful and imaginative activities.

Organiser Melissa Noble said more than 60 people took part in the first trail at Forde Park in June, with families, children and older residents all getting involved.

‘More than 60 people came to the first one, people with their children, older people too’, she said. ‘I got some really nice feedback from it’

This time, the trail will take an urban route, beginning at Golden Lion Square before heading down Bank Street, along Courtney Street and towards Victoria Gardens, creating a loop back towards the starting point.

Participants will be able to collect an activity booklet containing creative prompts and interactive challenges designed to encourage them to look more closely at the trees and natural features around them.

Noble, who runs the Academy of Wide-Hearted Living, said she chose the Sunday date to coincide with The Cwtch Hub’s Sunday market, giving participants the opportunity to make the most of their visit to the town centre.

The trail is designed to be accessible and pressure-free, with no artistic skills or special abilities required.

Creative materials will be provided and there is no charge to take part.

Participants will also be able to collect stamps along the route and exchange them for a small prize.

Noble said she does not have a fixed idea of where the project will ultimately lead.

‘I don’t have a fixed vision of how it’s going to end up’, she said. “Let’s see what people bring, what they are curious about, and I can make it happen’.

She hopes the trails will help create a community around creativity, nature and shared experiences.

‘The more good things that happen, the better the world becomes, right?’ she said.
