TWO people have been arrested in Newton Abbot town centre today, Tuesday, on suspicion of a committing a racially aggravated public order offence.

Police were called to Newton Abbot town centre at around 1pm today following a report of anti-social behaviour.

A police spokesperson confirmed: ‘A woman in her 20s and a man in his 50s have been arrested on suspicion of committing a racially aggravated public order offence and being drunk and disorderly in a public place.

‘They remain in police custody at this time.’
