TWO Teignbridge charities have received a funding boost from a financial services group.

The Friends of the Dawlish Hill Pony and Bovey Tracey Youth Action both benefitted from the Benefact Group Movement for Good Awards to support their work.

Both charities will receive a donation of £1,000. Now in its eighth year, Benefact Group Movement for Good is giving away more than £1million to charities this year.

Members of the public were invited to nominate causes close to their hearts, with more than 8,000 Devon residents taking part.

Tara Leader, Volunteer, Friends of the Dartmoor Hill Pony said: ‘We are incredibly grateful to Benefact Group for supporting our work.

’As a charity, we are dedicated to protecting these rare, semi-wild ponies while helping to secure their future through careful handling, training, and education.

‘Our work not only benefits the ponies themselves, but also supports the unique landscape and heritage of Dartmoor that they have shaped for generations.

‘This funding will make a real difference, helping us to cover essential costs such as feed and veterinary care, as well as continuing the training and development of young ponies.

‘It allows us to give these ponies the best possible start as they transition from the moor into more secure futures, while also enabling us to engage and educate the public about their importance.

‘Support like this is vital in ensuring that Dartmoor Hill Ponies continue to be part of the landscape for generations to come.’
