TWO fire appliances from Teignmouth went sent to reports of a property fire in the town in the early hours of this morning (Friday, July 7).

Said a Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue spokesman: “On arrival at Orchard Gardens just after 4am the firefighters found there to be a smell of burning, but no obvious sign of fire.”

“After making investigations crews found the cause to be a small fire involving a fish tank heater. Electric power was isolated and made safe.”

Three hours later one fire engine from Newton Abbot was sent to Strap Lane in Kingsteignton following reports of a van on fire.

Crews used two BA to two hose reel jets to extinguish the blaze and duty of care was left with the driver.
