A MAN from Teignmouth has denied raping a woman after giving her a stupefying drug.

Lewis Stewart, aged 27, pleaded not guilty to six charges when he appeared at Exeter Crown Court by video link from the city’s prison.

Stewart, of St Patrick’s Close, Teignmouth, and previously of Dawlish, denied raping two different women between January 20 and 23 this year.

He also denied administering a substance to one of them with the intent to enable sexual activity.

He also denied supplying MDMA, also known as ecstasy, between the same dates and possessing MDMA with intent to supply on January 26, 2023.

He pleaded not guilty to breaking a Sexual Harm Prevention Order between January 18 and 26 by failing to notify police that he had acquired a mobile phone that was capable of using the internet.

He admitted personal possession of cannabis on January 26.

Judge Anna Richardson adjourned his case for a trial at Exeter Crown Court in October and remanded him in custody.
