Students from the UKTA South Devon Tae kwon Do School returned triumphant after a long day competing in the 2009 UKTA Welsh Tae Kwon Do Championships, held at the Welsh National Indoor Athletics centre in Cardiff.

The 13 students, who train in Newton Abbot and Torquay, all put in spectacular performances against students from all over the UK, winning a total of 21 medals in patterns, sparring, breaking and special technique. The success of the students also placed the Torbay school third out of the 45 schools at the end of the event.

Gold medal winners were Lorna Wright, Rachael Smith, Keiran Tully, Sam Bridge, Jackson Millis and Ben Hogan, who can now all add the title of 2009 Welsh Champion to their tae kwon do CV.

Coach and instructor, 5th dan Steve Millis, was pleased with his students and hopes that their success will inspire some of the other up and coming students in the school.MORE SPORT IN OUR ONLINE EDITION
