A TEIGNBRIDGE charity has been presented with a cheque to the tune of £200 by a lute instrument club.
Newton Abbot Ukulele Club, who meet every Wednesday at the Old Rydon Inn, Kingsteignton, presented Home-start Teignbridge, which is a local community network of trained volunteers and charity that helps families with children through challenging times, with the cheque on March 8.
Members of the club handed over the cheque to representatives from Home-start.
Formed in 2008, the club, which boasts a healthy membership, raises funds for good causes from several charity gigs: performances in residential homes, for example.
‘We do a lot of charity gigs, nursing homes, retirement homes and things like that’ club member Maggie said.
‘We don’t ask for any money at all but people always donate - through the years it adds up!’ she added.
The cheque was gratefully received by representatives of Homestart, who gave a short speech detailing theie work.
