Ivor Halliwell, of Avenue Road, Bovey Tracey, writes:
Not everyone, I can assure Cllr Laing, would agree with his assessment of Cllr Anna Klinkenberg. One can only speak as one finds.
In a recent matter concerning a considerable number of her constituents, allegedly she never inquired about what the majority had to say. Allegedly she consistently and vociferously represented one person when the case came before the relevant committee.
A significant number of her constituents were astounded at this apparent way of representing them, but a close look at the rules concluded that while she might have offended against the spirit of what the rules were intended to prevent, she had probably stayed within the letter.
The two other councillors who became interested in the matter, Cllr Fernley Holmes and Cllr Sally Morgan, on the other hand, apparently took infinite trouble to hear both sides of the argument.
Cllr Morgan did exactly the correct thing in referring the letter to the appropriate authority, rather than using the old boy network, which seems to be Cllr Laing's preferred course of action.
