J Colley, of Kingsteignton, writes: I wish to congratulate the workers, both paid and unpaid, who spend so many hours of restoration work within the area of Teignbridge, mainly in the Newton Abbot, Moretonhampstead, Dawlish, Buckland, Kingsteignton, Dunsford, Teignmouth, Chudleigh, South Dartmoor and other locations. These dedicated workers go about their task most of the time, unseen by the public. Indeed, I guess the majority of us Teignbridge residents may not even know about this valuable work of restoration being undertaken on our behalf. Much of their time is spent in the evenings after a busy day's work and sometimes extends into the night time hours when many of us are resting in our beds. they can be out on cold, wet, dark winter nights seeking to be of help and sometimes involved in spending whole weekends away from home in serving our community. No. I am not referring to the restoration of ancient monuments, but to the restoration of the many young people of this present generation who need help guidance and encouragement as they approach adulthood. At the Junction Community and Young Persons Venue, in Newton Abbot, I attended an open evening to celebrate youth provision across the district, and was impressed to see the result of the restoration work achieved. Young people shared their experiences and testified to the change in their lives which was a tribute to the workers who were able to see the fruit of their labours. Again – congratulations.
