VETERAN fund-raiser Allen Stokes has taken a well-earned rest in Dawlish from his round-Britain cycle ride.

Allen, from Shropshire, is cycling around the country to raise money and awareness of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder in service veterans.

Since setting off in December, Allen, also known as Tiny who served in the Foreign Legion for many years, has raised more than £8,000.

He arrived in Dawlish having visited Lands End, Anglesey, Snowdon, Ben Nevis, Orkney, Holy Island, Newcastle, Whitby and the Isle of Wight to name a few.

He said: ‘I’m towing a trailer of about 400kg behind my pushbike.

‘I’ll be in Dawlish for a few days and probably playing by didgeridoo. Please feel free to say hello if you see me I’m a big bear of a man but easy to talk to.’

His trip, which he is self-funding, has seen him chasing to stay and sleep on the roadside, battling all weathers.
