A TEIGNBRIDGE nail technician is hoping for success in a national beauty awards competition.

Victoria Fernott from Kenton has made it through as a finalist in the Best Gel Nails category of prestigious UK Hair and Beauty Awards

Victoria, who works out of the Signature Touch beauty salon in Torquay, only turned full-time in the business twelve months ago although she has been working with nails for the past twenty years.

‘Said Victoria : ‘I started off learning to do manicures and pedicures and acrylic nails because I wanted to do something creative and I eventually moved into gel nails.

‘I do a lot of freehand nail art too and my family and friends kept saying I should go professional and last year I took the plunge and went full-time.’

However, the timing was not brilliant as the covid crises happened at the same time.

‘I was a bit deflated for a little bit ,’ she continued.

‘But I decided to continue and used the lockdown time to do as many nail art courses as possible so I could stand out from the rest and enter some competitions too.’

Fortunately, her months of hard work and continued practice have paid off and she is now looking forward to the online awards ceremony.

Continued a surprised Victoria: ‘Out of thousands of applicants I still can’t believe that I have been selected as a finalist for the awards.’

The winners will be announced at the end of March.
