Villagers in Lustleigh celebrated May Day on Saturday with a traditional gathering and crowning of the May Queen.

This year the regal title was bestowed on 15-year-old Bryony Bell who earned the honour by having danced in the village every May Day since she was five.

It was a scene believed to have been played out in the rural community for centuries and took place on a decorated throne in the orchard above a large granite boulder known as the May Day Rock.
