THE doors to Rowcroft Hospice’s distribution centre in Newton Abbot are to be flung open tomorrow for anyone who might be interested in volunteering.

Organisers hope that the open day, which takes place on October 5 from 10am to 3pm, will give those interested in volunteering the opportunity to sign up while raising awareness of what happens behind the scenes at the site on Brunel Industrial Estate.

Paul O’Callaghan, manager at the centre, said: ‘We are currently after all sorts of volunteers to help us with our day-to-day running of the distribution centre, including warehouse assistants and people to sort through our donations.

‘We are also interested to hear from anyone who might be happy to volunteer in our shops or help with our eBay store.’

The day will begin with a tour of the site before attendees are given the chance to trial the work of a volunteer and chat through the different roles and opportunities available.
