THESE five people are all standing in the Devon County Council elections for Ashburton and Buckfastleigh.

STUART BARKER (Con)

Stuart has lived in Buckfastleigh for 35 years and represented Ashburton and Buckfastleigh since 2001. His record includes ensuring Ashburton and Buckfastleigh Hospital will be retained as a health hub, lobbying for a £19 million increase in Devon’s adult social care budget and providing support for community shops and post offices.

RON FOX (Ind)

Working with my community we’ve raised £350,000 and saved our pool, built a fantastic play park, started a Citizens Advice service and community cinema. We are fighting to keep our hospitals open and fund our schools properly. I want to take this to County Hall and make even bigger things happen!

HELEN MCGECHIE (Lab)

I’m a woman who strongly believes in social justice and equality for all our citizens. Power, wealth and opportunity in the hands of the many, not just the few. We have seven Labour councillors already sitting on DCC, we need more. Vote with me, Vote Labour, Vote with your heart.

JOHN NUTLEY (Lib Dem)

Long time Buckfastleigh and Ashburton resident, John has a record of getting things done. He tries to put the interests of residents before party and will always fight to ensure that Devon’s schools, elderly, vulnerable young people and roads get the funding and support that they need and deserve.
