M WILLIAMS, of Laburnum Court, Abbotskerswell, writes:
Very soon we will all be expected to vote in the coming elections.
After the publicity regarding the abuse of claims made by our MPs, voting for any political party or politician must be very low.
One lasting solution would be to hand over the Houses of Parliament to the National Trust, and transfer Parliament to the Dome, setting out the new benches in a circle. This would put an end to the confrontational yah-boo which occurs in the House during Prime Minister's Questions.
What is also long overdue is a fair, honest and democratic voting system of voting, one where every vote counts and would ensure our MPs are accountable to his/her constituent (not party).
This fair, honest and democratic voting system is the Single Transferable Voting (STV) system. The present voting system is defunct and no longer fit for purpose.
Let's stop forever elected dictatorship in our country.
