A WOMAN with a suspected broken ankle was carried off the moors by members of the Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team Ashburton (DSRT).

The rescuers were called in shortly before 3pm on Tuesday.

On their Facebook page DSRT Ashburton report: ‘At 14:51hrs the team were asked for assistance by the South West Ambulance Service Trust for a 49-year-old lady hill walker who had a suspected broken ankle.

‘She and her friend had been walking on the southern side of Dartmoor beneath Ugborough Beacon when she slipped and sustained her injury.

‘Our volunteers were quickly at the scene where she was assessed, provided with pain relief and packaged for a 1 Km stretcher evacuation to the road head. 

‘We wish her a speedy recovery.’
