AS Griff Rhys Jones descended on Dartmoor with his camera crew, one couple had their 15 minutes of fame this week as they featured in an ITV documentary.

Griff’s Great Britain, which aired on Monday night, highlights the moor’s natural beauty.

Griff met with Diane and Steve Weymouth, of Ponsworthy, who imported llamas and alpacas from South America and trained them to accompany tourists who are walking on the moors.

On the show, Diane said that working to make a living on Dartmoor is hard.

Griff said that the couple came up with an enterprising idea by offering people who wouldn’t want to walk on Dartmoor alone by using some reassuring company.

The 62-year-old actor, writer and comedian explored the moor’s ancient woodland and high granite tors.
