South west health chiefs have issued an urgent warning about a batch of contaminated heroin which has hospitalised two people in Dorset.
They are worried the drug may also be available elsewhere.
The heroin is coloured orange and the two patients who have taken it are said to be seriously ill with infections, blood clots and chest pain.
Dr Adrian Dawson, director of public health for Bournemouth and Poole, said: 'We know that this has come through dealers so is accessed in person rather than on the internet.
'If you or someone you know may be likely to come into contact with this substance then I advise you strongly to avoid it and contact your local drug services for advice.'
