CONTRACTORS working on the South West Water scheme in Dawlish are holding a public meeting tonight for residents where pipe work is expected to cause major disruption.
People living in West Cliff, Third Avenue and Churchill Avenue will be affected.
The public is invited to the meeting to discuss any concerns about proposed work in these roads.
For three months, there will be disruption as SWW contractors Amplify reline pipes.
These three roads have been identified as sections of the network which are allowing surface water to enter the system.
This means that in times of wet weather the system becomes overloaded and causes spills from the storm overflows.
To enable the work to take place, from September 8 to December 12 West Cliff Road will have three way traffic lights and Churchill Avenue will have parking bay suspensions, a footpath closure and three way traffic lights.
A spokesman said: ‘This may cause you some inconvenience.
‘All efforts will be made to minimise disruption and to maintain access to properties affected by the road and footpath closure and the traffic lights.’
The information meeting takes place tonight at St Gregory's Church at 6pm.
Anyone likely to be affected is welcome to attend to find out more about the works, ask questions and discuss any concerns.
The spokesman continued: ‘We are trying to reduce our reliance on storm water overflows across our region to reduce the number and volume of spills to the environment from our network.’
Work on relining pipes in the area will be: July 21 to end of August, West Cliff Road closure between the junctions of West Cliff Park Drive and Daw Vale Close and 3 way traffic lights on Third Avenue.
