David Townsend, of Lindridge Lane, Kingsteignton, writes:
Sibelco now have permission to continue turning clay dust into gold at no expense, DCC are, from the public purse, to make road 'improvements' , the residents gain nothing, no amenities, no new school, no real benefits just continued misery.
We had a parish council containing both county and district councillors who maintained silence on the issue, the now town council members vote against, having previously voted for.
Our planners have now turned down the Premier Inn/Whitbread application for a hotel on the racecourse which would have created jobs. just how much more would road congestion have been added by such a venture?
also, what architectural gems do we have in that area which a modernistic hotel would diminish?
Dawlish Warren, not the most attractive in terms of buildings, will now get homes somehow described as having a link akin to beach huts. how? the opponents point to additional road congestion and rightly, too, but the future needs for a residential home are out.
Finally, as TDC have already decided that Kingsteignton is to bear the brunt of local development, why did they not include this town in the list of public consultation centres, belatedly corrected?
is this not yet again a costly exercise where objections will be completely ignored?
Perhaps the Teignbridge Council leader, Alan 'We Will Not Roll Over' Connett, will take questions in Kingsteignton or explain his meaning of this utterance.THIS AND OTHER LETTERS IN OUR ONLINE EDITION
