Cllr Jacqui Orme, of Teignmouth, writes:

In response to Gerald Penney’s letter in the Teignmouth Post (Report must be released) with which I completely agree.

To clarify, I was not the one to call for a secret discussion. I called for the investigation report to made public – after all, it was paid for by public money!

At the town council meeting where it was discussed, I conceded to vote for a brief ‘part two’ (private) meeting only to agree upon where and how it should be publicised; and because the town clerk had advised us that she had sought advice on the legality of doing so.

If the legal advice is not forthcoming in a timely way, and considering that the Investigation Report circulated was not marked ‘private’ and has allegedly already been leaked, then we have little excuse not to publish it officially.

For the record, I voted against wasting an exorbitant amount of public money on an investigation which has not revealed anything which we didn’t already know.

What price common sense?
