A RESIDENT, of Newton Abbot, writes:

Where have all the seats gone? There used to be two at the top of The Avenue, one beside the war memorial, two or three on the footpath (parallel to the road) in Courtenay Park, and now the one overlooking the tennis court in Forde Park has gone.

We are encouraged to use our legs instead of the car, but the chance to sit for a few minutes while tired with shopping would be greatly appreciated.

I notice money was found to provide some strange edifice in a corner of Courtenay Park, supposedly for youngsters – but not often occupied for some time.

I have been inquiring about this lack of seating, even to a local councillor, but to no avail.

Perhaps some structures in iron or concrete would thwart the vandals who, alas, are always with us!
