ONE of the country's oldest and most famous fairs, held for more than 150 years, welcomed an estimated 6,000 visitors who enjoyed a host of traditional activities coupled with events and entertainment.
Widecombe Fair has a long and established history and is famed for its associations with Uncle Tom Cobley 'and all'.
A fixture at the annual fair, Uncle Tom was a real character who attended the event in the days when it was a way for farmers to get rid of excess livestock raised during the summer.
