A MYSTERY couple who helped a confused and lost dog wandering in rush-hour traffic in Teignmouth have been thanked by a witness.

Corinne Wilson, from The Gables in Teignmouth’s Westbrook Avenue, revealed how a border collie-type dog was wandering in traffic on busy Exeter Road this morning.

She said many motorists slowed down to avoid the poor creature and drive around him just before 8.30am.

Corinne, in the queue of delayed traffic, said: ‘The young lady and man, perhaps on their way to work and in as much a rush as any of us, pulled off the road.

‘The young man then ran ahead and coached the dog off the road. It took a little time as the dog seemed a bit unwilling, perhaps dazed.’

She added: ‘Thanks to this couple for helping a dog in need, for prolonging the dog’s life and perhaps making a family who lost the dog very happy.

‘He could have been mashed potatoes at the rate some cars and lorries come down the road.

‘Thank you for making that decision for helping a dog first, even though it might have inconvenienced your day.’
