OFFICERS investigating a report of assault in Exeter are appealing for witnesses.

A woman was walking along the Exeter Quay footpath at around 7pm on Monday, July 7 when she was assaulted by an unknown man.

She was walking in the direction of Flowerpot Fields on the skatepark side of the river when a man walking the opposite direction punched her in the face as he passed.

He didn’t stop and continued walking in the direction of the city centre.

A spokesperson for Devon & Cornwall Police said: ‘Officers are appealing for anyone who was in the area during the evening and witnessed the incident or has information which may assist us, to please report it.
