At the other end of the court, Pacers were showing excellent form, with offensive patterns of play being clinically finished so, at the first break, the Newton Abbot team were in command and 21-2 ahead.
Their aim was to repeat the performance of the previous ten minutes and, although the play was set up identically to the first period a scoreline of 8-6 points in Pacers’ favour showed just how much the intensity and accuracy of their play had dropped off.
In the second half, variations in the defensive and offensive formations helped the Pacers’ players to focus on the required game plans, and the defensive strategies were effective as Marjons were made to work hard for their scoring opportunities, with only a further ten points being conceded by Pacers during the rest of the game.
In offence, the visitors used the variations to generate good scoring opportunities, but there was a lack of finishing off the moves, so Pacers scored only a further 25 points to win the game 54-18.
