THERE was a good attendance for the Dawlish Indoor Bowls Finals last weekend, writes Peter Hayes.

On Saturday, the Ladies’ Singles and Men’s Singles finals took place.

The ladies’ final was a family affair as Jean Pitts faced sister Dawn Konetsky. Dawn gained the advantage by throwing shorter jacks. Dawn eventually won 22-4.

The men’s final threw together Marc Baker and talented teenager, Andrew Moore. Although Andrew played some excellent shots, he did not match the standards set by Marc, who proved a very worthy winner; 21-10.

In the Ladies’ Umbrella event on Sunday, the final was between the pair of Debs Kettley and Georgie Nown against Carole Scutt and Steph Cheshire.

Each player has two bowls and the Umbrella is played over 18 ends. Carole made life difficult for her opponents with accurate first bowls, while Steph added to these throughout.

Debs and Georgie never gave up and Steph and Carole worked to keep their lead, finishing 16-11 winners.
