A crowd of 153 turned up on Wednesday to see if Buckland Athletic could repeat last year's 3-0 victory over Torquay United in the St Luke's Bowl.

But it was not to be, the plucky squad going down 1-3.

Buckland player manager Antony Lynch used the match to rotate his squad and give himself a rare start.

Buckland took the lead through Simon Revell after 20 minutes but Torquay levelled through May before the break.

In the second half Torquay increased their lead in an entertaining match with two goals from Saul halpin.

In some ways defeat suits Buckland – due to waterlogged pitches they are already playing two games a week from now until the end of the season.

Tomorrow, they are at home to Cadbury Heath (3 pm).
