FOOTBALL fixtures up and down the country have fallen foul of yet another week of wet weather.
In the South West Peninsula League Premier East, Newton Abbot Spurs were scheduled to visit Honiton Town whilst Teignmouth AFC were awaiting the visit of Torrington AFC but to no avail.
As a matter of fact, only two matches went ahead across the entire Peninsula League, one in the east division and one in the west.
The only Premier East matchup was between Middlezoy Rovers and Ilfracombe Town, two sides who couldn’t be separated before or after kick-off.
Ahead of the clash, they were locked together in sixth and seventh with 25 points apiece. They then proceeded to play out a nil-nil draw at the Ethan Berry Pavilion, meaning Ilfracombe remain narrowly ahead on goal difference.
Meanwhile, Camelford FC moved up to fourth in the West with a 4-1 win away at St. Day AFC, courtesy of four different scorers.
Both Bovey Tracey AFC and Buckland Athletic had their sights set on progressing to the fourth round of the FA Vase only for their home ties, against Downton FC and Barnstaple Town respectively, to also fall by the wayside.
These two cup clashes have been swiftly rearranged for this coming weekend, on Saturday, December 13.
The show must go on and so the draw for the next round of the Vase went ahead on Monday 8 at 1pm.
Both will be at home again if they win, Bovey taking on Slimbridge or Amesbury Town and the Bucks crossing paths with AFC Stoneham.
For Spurs and Teignmouth though, their games won’t be for a few months now and their attentions shift to different opponents. Ironically, they’re actually switching fixtures, Spurs hosting Honiton at The Rec and the Teigns travelling to Honiton.
