DAWLISH

DAWLISH opened July with a confident MDL home win against Kingsbridge, followed just three days later by another solid performance on their own green against Babbacombe.

Leaders Starcross were then too strong for Dawlish but they bounced back to beat Babbacombe once more.

Shaldon were next up for them and the rink scores were 18-10, 15-11, 10-18 and 6-26, the convincing nature of the final rink giving Shaldon the win.

Dawlish have two games still to come whilst Shaldon have matches in hand to cash in on.

They will visit Torbay on August 15 before then closing it out at home on August 17 against Bitton Park.

With the season entering its final stretch, Dawlish’s fate rests on how they handle these decisive encounters. The Premier League remains within reach — the coming weeks will determine whether they can secure it.

CHUDLEIGH

Chudleigh ladies continued their great form in the South Devon League.

They only won one of the three rinks against Paignton but as they won it so heavily, 24-3, they also claimed the overall victory to remain at the Division Two summit.

The men also prevailed over a Paignton side, gaining 12 points after their MDL clash.

Chudleigh Over 55’s Y-team lost at Ipplepen, winning on one rink and losing on the other. They lost the overall score, 35 points to 31 with Ipplepen always being a difficult place to visit.

In their weekend friendlies, Chudleigh lost to a very good Exeter St. Thomas side before then securing a well-deserved victory away to Marina, winning on three of the four rinks.

Finally, the mixed triple of Kate Reader, Aaron Hiscock and Anne Marie Stanley, were beaten by a very experienced Starcross triple on the road in their Unbadged County Section Final. They acquitted themselves very well and should be proud.
