THIS week’s match report for Bovey Tracey Bowls Club begins with a home fixture in the men's Mid Devon League against Dawlish, writes Keith Lockett.
In cool but pleasant playing conditions, the visitors ran out winners by 80 shots to 72 with the rinks tied two each.

In the men's Over 55s X Division, Bovey visited Bitton Park where the early scores favoured them, only for the home teams to have the lion's share in the later stages, winning on both rinks by an aggregate of 38 shots to 23.

The Y team also had an away match at Chudleigh, resulting in an encouraging win by 38 shots to 27. R Bailey, A Chew, A Franklin 23-12; P Cridge, D Cosway, K Breame 15-15. League points; Chudleigh 1 - Bovey Tracey 7.
In a mixed friendly away at Plymstock, the home side won on aggregate scores after the rinks were shared two each. In another mixed friendly at Victoria Club, Torquay the scores ended up tied at 59 shots each with Bovey winning on three rinks to one, an encouraging result as Bovey were giving debuts to four new members who had never previously played competitively.
Unfortunately, two matches had to be postponed due to the heavy rain on Saturday, one in the ladies' Grace Matthews competition at Shaldon and the other a home mixed friendly against Buckfastleigh.
In the second round of a county mixed pairs match, Sarah and Kenny Breame won 16 shots to 11 against Carolyn and Andrew Wilkinson (Abbrook Park).
