TORQUAY & Kingskerswell jetted out of the A Division bottom two in the slipstream of a 99-run win over arch rivals Barton.

While Torquay & Kingskerswell are on the up having traded second-bottom with Plympton, Barton remain anchored to the bottom of the table, where they are 46 points shy of safety.

Harry Passenger, the T&K skipper, was the man of the moment for his side with an unbeaten 139, compiled in a fraction longer than three hours in the searing heat.

Josh Thompson warmed-up the scorebook with 29, but it was a stand of 143 between Passenger and Chris Kelmere (64) that propelled T&K towards their 50-over total of 279 for five.

Matt Upton (4.20) and Fin Last (3.75) were the only Barton bowlers to operate below five runs an over.

Barton were all out for 180 in reply. Tinashe Kamunhukamwe top scored on 65 and shared a 92-run stand with former Torquay & Kingskerswell favourite Nick Watkin (31). Next best was Steve Lewis (17), another T&K old boy, whose departure at 160 for seven prefixed the decline to 180 all out.

Six of Torquay & Kingskerswell’s seven bowlers took at least one wicket. The odd-man out was Noah Carswell, who made amends with a brilliant catch off Kelmere (2-22) to dismiss Kamunhukamwe.
