A DOZEN ladies from the Fit2run running group travelled to Budleigh Salterton to take part in the Jurassic Coast 10k race.

This race, which attracted more than 230 runners, was born in 2005 from an idea by a well known local runner, Jane Newman, who thought of establishing a charity run in the setting of the River Otter.

The event is not for profit and all money raised is donated to Force Cancer Charity.

The ladies from Fit2run donated £60 to this cause, which they raised by marshalling at the Torbay Half Marathon.

First Fit2run runner home was Faye Hussey in 58.12. followed by Clare Turner in 1.04.36, Vanessa Zalman in 1.05.55 and Sandra Weddon in 1.05.59.

Lorraine Thompson was next home, in 1.07.26, then came Roz Norris in 1.08.29, June White in 1.09.00, Sharon Ellis in 1.09.34, 10k debutant Helen Kinsman in 1.12.37, Tracey Stronghill in 1.15.20, Cindy Luxton in 1.23.14 and Vanessa Williams in 1.23.15.

The ladies were supported by their running group leader Marika Dowse and fellow runner Karen Wilkins.

Fit2run meets on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at The Rec, Newton Abbot.
