NEWTON Abbot Spurs announced on their social media channels on Monday, June 16 the capture of a new 2nd XI manager.
Andy Feaver and Shaun Taylor stepped down “After two outstanding and successful seasons at the helm” at the end of May.
In the words of the club, “Their leadership culminated in a fantastic high, winning the SDL Premier Division title this season- a true testament to their commitment, passion and hard work.
“Andy’s contribution to the club spans over 12 years, having developed many of our current players through his youth teams- a legacy that continues to shape the club’s future.”
Spurs extended their “heartfelt thanks” to the duo and they “wish them all the very best for what comes next.
Andy and Shaun are pictured hoisting the silverware that they helped to bring to the club, a fitting end to their tenure.
Returning to present day and Spurs are “pleased to announce Joe Bushin as our new Reserve Team Manager ahead of the 2025/26 season.
“Joe joins us from Kingsteignton after a successful playing career, which included spells in the Western League with Tiverton and Taunton, Paulton Rovers, Bridgwater Town as well as the Devon League with Liverton and, of course, Newton Spurs.”
They also mentioned that Darren Sowerby, who had assisted Andy and Shaun previously, applied for the role but Joe was their man, citing that “a complete change of leadership was the right move at this time.”
Finally: “Welcome back to Spurs, Joe- and here’s to the next chapter!”
A new era is really being ushered in at The Rec with the 1st XI management team changing as well. Marc Revell, alongside brother Simon, did a superb job in charge and led them to second in the SW Peninsula League last season.
Connor Marshall is the man who is filling Revell’s shoes and our introductory interview with him is available here.
