BUCKLAND Athletic were unable to close out their ‘Forever Yellow Day’ with a victory in the Western League.

New signing Josiah McKayle opened his account for the club with just seven minutes on the clock before Brislington FC flipped the game on its head.

Goals from Shea Bennington-Mannings and Lewis Dunn had the visitors in front now but with half-time approaching, Toby Pullman made it two apiece.

A scoreless second half ensued and so Buckland now have Sidmouth Town hot on their heels, following their 2-1 victory at St. Blazey, ahead of the midweek fixtures.

The Bucks may not have prevailed on the pitch but a great day was had, in the sunshine, by supporters, past players, managers and coaches all the same.

Homers Heath is set to be a busy venue in the weeks ahead as well with three more home games around the corner for Matt Cusack’s side.

On Wednesday night (March 25), second-placed Torpoint Athletic come to town before the Bucks then face visits from 18th-placed Oldland Abbotonians on Saturday (March 28) and third-placed Paulton Rovers the following Wednesday (April 1).

This could well be a make-or-break period for the club.
