DESPITE being 2-0 down within 10 minutes of the start Buckland Athletic pulled off an FA Vase comeback worthy of Lazarus this weekend with an extra time 4-3 victory over Hinckley AFC.
The hard-won victory over the Leicester team on Saturday now sees Buckland through to the quarter finals draw on Monday, and it’s now fingers crossed for the Newton Abbot squad to have a home tie - having had four away games out of five in the competition so far.
Two goals from Hinckley’s Sam Ager put the home side up at St John’s Park after 11 minutes, but Buckland’s Lloyd Gardner and Gavin Hammon made it all level by half time.
Ager made his hat trick in the second half but Buckland responded with Lloyd Gardner getting his second shot in which moved the game into extra time, whereupon Richard Groves put the ball in the net to give a 4-3 victory to Buckland.
This means that a Wembley final is just a potential three matches away - and, with the way Buckland are playing at the moment, this could be a distinct possibility.
