AS IF Bovey Tracey AFC weren’t performing well enough already, they have gone up another gear and scored 27 goals in their last three SW Peninsula League East outings.
At the end of March, they put eight past Okehampton Argyle. The Moorlanders then scored nine away at Stoke Gabriel & Torbay Police and reached double digits on Saturday, April 11.
The man of the moment in this 10-1 victory at Honiton Town was Levi Landricombe once more. The experienced forward struck five times against Stoke and he added another quintet of goals to his tally.
Landricombe got the ball rolling after 12 minutes at Mountbatten Park and was quickly joined on the scoresheet by midfielder Cal Leech.
Cliff Walters and Owen Stockton then got in on the first-half scoring act to give Bovey a comfortable 4-0 lead at the break.
Ollie Aplin scored number five and then it was Landricombe’s turn again, making it six, seven, eight and then 9-0.
Stuart Bowker was the man to make it 10 before Honiton got one back late on.
Bovey’s joy was slightly marred by a nasty injury to club stalwart Neil Last, coming from a challenge that his teammates weren’t happy about at all.
Meanwhile, Bridport FC won 5-0 away at Bishops Lydeard to keep an element of pressure on but Ben Gerring’s side know that two more league wins will more than likely secure them the title.
Elsewhere, Teignmouth AFC welcomed Ilfracombe Town to Coombe Valley and they were edged out in a five-goal thriller.
The pair were locked together with two goals apiece at half-time but Ilfracombe scored the only goal after the break to claim all three points.
This evening, Teignmouth head to Crediton United and Bovey make the trip to the aforementioned Ilfracombe.
Then, on the weekend, Teigns have no game and the Moorlanders will pay Cullompton Rangers a visit at Adopstar Park.
