LIVERTON United 2nd XI edged their way into the next round of the Intermediate Cup after winning a penalty shootout, reports Alastair Muirden.

Matt Waye, Reuben West and Kalyan Kurup scored the goals for Livvy as they drew 3-3 with fellow SDFL side Brixham Town 2nd XI and it was the hosts who won from the spot at Halford.

Also in this competition, Tamerton Foliot won 8-1 against Otterton, Barton Athletic overcame Ipplepen Athletic 2nd XI, plus Windmill and Horrabridge Rangers enjoyed comprehensive victories.

On the Friday night, Buckland Athletic 3rds won by five goals to nil at Homers Heath against Newton Rovers. Rowan Dunford, Will Glanfield, Miko Piasecki, Archie Selby and Corey Moore all got on the scoresheet for the Bucks.

Buckfastleigh Rangers 2nds overcame Newton Abbot 66 2nds, Kingsteignton Athletic 2nds beat Westexe Park Rangers 2nds plus Stoke Gabriel TP 2nds, Waldon Athletic 2nds and Paignton Villa 3rds leave the competition at the hands of raiders from the north and east.

In the Premier Cup, four SDFL teams moved on and four now head home.

Ilsington Villa were 1-nil down at the break against Crediton but a lightning start to the second half saw them surge into a 3-1 lead which they held. Dan Langford, Jack Dixon and Jamie Soper scored the goals.

Liam Ashwell notched a brace as Newton 66 beat St Martins, Kingsteignton had three different scorers in their win over Westexe Park Rangers plus Lakeside secured a 3-0 victory.

Totnes & Dartington couldn’t raise a team whilst Elburton Villa lost to Alphington, Chudleigh Athletic to Landkey and Newton Abbot Spurs 2nds to Elmore. Just to remind folks that both Elmore and Alphington are the top two teams in the DFL at step seven so there is no disgrace in defeat.

In the Senior Cup, seven SDFL teams went through and four left the competition. Galmpton Utd and Brixham Town both had walkovers into the next round but hats off to Ashburton who not only won their first game of the season, but had to travel to Lynton who took them to a penalty shootout, which the Ashes won 4-2.

Kingskerswell beat Axminster 2-nil and Liverton Utd had a great result in an all SDFL tie against Buckfastleigh Rangers winning 1-nil.

There were two other all SDFL ties and Beesands Rovers upset the form book by winning at Mount Gould by winning on penalties after a 1-1 draw in 90 minutes, plus Watcombe Wanderers put six past Babbacombe Corries.

Paignton Villa, Tavistock 2nds, Newton Abbot Spurs 3rds and East Allington Utd 2nds were all defeated.

Onto the league and the only top-flight clash to take place was at Millbay Park and the visitors East Allington Utd did enough to move into the top half of the table with a fine 5–1 victory against True Blues. Goals came from Finn Bullen, Fred Massey, Keiron Carr and Harry Witham.

The result sees the pirates into fifth place and just one point from second, True Blues remain in eighth position in what is a very congested division with just four points separating second and 10th.

In Division Five, Newton Rovers 2nds picked up their first win of the season and what a good win it was. A 2–1 success at Abbrook Farm against WBB sees them leapfrog Broadhempston Utd into eighth place and Wattsies remain in mid table at the moment.
