BOVEY Tracey AFC 2nd XI’s penultimate game of the season in the South Devon Football League second tier ended in victory but they were made to fight for it.

Lewis Perring netted a hat-trick and was joined on the scoresheet by Nicholas Edmunds and Ryan Stanbridge as the Moorlanders beat Ivybridge Town 2nd XI on home soil.

This means a fourth-placed finish is the likely outcome for Bovey whilst Division Two beckons for rock-bottom Ivybridge.

The less said about WBB’s game on Saturday, May 17 the better as they shipped 11 goals at Coach Road at the hands of high-flyers Plymouth Phoenix.

In the top flight, Jack Lee and Matthew Williams scored for Kingsteignton Athletic as they won away at Beesands Rovers. This result could earn them fourth in the final standings if East Allington United lose their last game of the campaign.

There was no league action for Newton Abbot Spurs 2nd XI though as they had the George Belli Cup final to focus on, crossing paths with Totnes & Dartington at Liverton FC on Thursday evening.

Neither team could grasp an advantage after 90 or 120 minutes and so a penalty shootout beckoned with Spurs suffering heartbreak from the spot, T&D goalkeeper Sam Davies saving three and scoring one of his own to make the difference.

On the topic of Liverton United and they took on Ipplepen Athletic 2nd XI in Division Two, all but guaranteeing themselves third place with a 2-0 victory.

Finally, to Division Three, where an 11-goal haul wasn’t enough for Elburton Villa 3rd XI to get their hands on the title.

They did all they could but Kameron Pouladdej scored the only goal of the game for Ashburton away at Osborne Park against local rivals Newton 66 2nd XI. This was Ashburton’s 100th strike of the season and it sees them finish just one point clear of Elburton.
